The antibody reacts with all the majorglycoproteins present in the viral envelope and with at least one core protein as determined by crossed immunoelectrophoresis. Contaminating antibodies to human and bovine serum have been removed by solid-phase absorption. In ELISA the antibody shows no reaction with human and bovine plasma. The antibody shows no cross-reactivity to cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus.In indirect immunofluorescence a weak cross-reactivity to varicella zoster virus can be expected if the antibody is used in a relatively highconcentration.
