Species: Mouse Anti-. Specificity (Detailed): Antibody CCH2 reacts with an early nuclear protein identical with the non-structural DNA-binding protein p52 (7). More than 200 human CMV isolates have been successfully typed by this antibody which, therefore, seems to recognize an epitope which is highly conserved among HCMV strains (3, 4). Antibody DDG9 reacts with an immediate early nuclear protein of about 76 kDa (3). For both antibodies, the reactivity persists also at later stages during HCMV infection where localization is less distinctly nuclear and appears to be in the cytoplasm. Laser confocal microscopy, however, shows that the reaction is limited to the nuclear membrane (3).
